OKAY TAKE A LOOK AT THIS.
International Association Of Athletics Federation (IAAF)
Competition Rules 2006-2007, Rule 163.5the rules of which, our school claim to followIn competitions held under Rule 1(a), (b) and (c), the 800m event shall be run in lanes as far as the nearer edge of the breakline marked after the first bend where athletes may leave their respective lanes. The breakline shall be an arced line, 5cm wide, across the track, marked at each end by a flag at least 1.50m high, positioned outside the track, 30cm from the nearest lane line.
Note (i): To assist athletes identify the breakline, small cones or prisms, 5cmx5cm and no more than 15cm high, preferably of different colour from the breakline and the lane lines, may be placed on the lane lines immediately before the intersection of the lane lines and the breakline.
Note (ii): In international matches, countries may agree not to use lanes.
This means that, if it were to be decided that 800m be run in lanes according to the marked lines, runners are allowed to cut in after the first bend at the break line(approx. 100m?). However, our school has so kindly decided that runners STAY IN THEIR FRIGGING LANE for one lap before cutting in at the 2000m/10000m curve line.
Sure, people do make mistakes. But the problem lies in whether they're open to criticism. The only thing that made me so mad was their refusal to listen (or rather, entertain) our doubts. There is no form of consistency throughout the races at all because as the lane number increases, the runner is forced to cover a longer distance (fyi, i was on the 7th lane).
let me get this clear, i'm not saying this because i got a loser position (hey i thought 5th wasnt bad). I know it's a mental problem for me, but that wouldnt have arised if not for you fucking losers who can't even get logic right. It's impossible to give me a head start of 5-10m in compensation for 2 curves. Right after the first bend, it was obvious that even with the same strides and pace, we should be equal but for the 2nd bend,I am at an obvious disadvantage. Thinking of that just made me so pissy I just couldnt be bothered to run anymore, KNOWING that i'm running extra.
I am accepting my position as 5th (unlike some others, i actually have sportsmanship). But I know for sure I ran more than any of the runners in my race (see, it's the curve again!) And at the end of the day, maybe the school will go
"Oh, we realised. Thanks for telling, really. But you know, we have already tabulated all the results, so we cant change it. But there's always next year. After all, this is just a inter-house competition, right?"
dont give me this shit BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT YOURE GOOD AT. and it isnt the first time, is it? last racial harmony day, we protested, and this was the answer that we got. Is that what our school is truly good at? To cover up any faults with a simple "It's over, why bother" or "You still have next year" ? this is stupid, seriously.
Sorry. I'm not against any runners in particular or anything.
I'M AGAINST THE FRIGGING ICs FOR SPORTSMEET.
Yeah, when you grow up upholding the spirit of fairness in your household between you and your sibling, this kind of spirit sorta gets into your daily life too.
GREAT, okay now all hail the mighty goddess of justice.
